Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 28, 2026

🔒 The short version

Your photos are edited entirely on your device and are never uploaded to us or anyone else. Retrova is free and supported by ads from Google AdMob. With your permission, those ads may be personalized; if you don't grant permission, you still see ads, but non-personalized. The app also collects anonymous usage and crash data through Google Firebase. You can remove all ads with a one-time in-app purchase. We have no accounts and we never sell your data.

01Who this applies to

This Privacy Policy describes how the Retrova app (“Retrova”, “the app”, “we”) handles information when you use it on your iPhone or iPad. By using Retrova, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.

02Your photos & edits stay on your device

All image processing — filters, effects, adjustments, background removal, cropping, exporting and everything else — happens locally on your device using Apple’s on-device frameworks.

03Advertising (Google AdMob)

Retrova is free and displays ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure these ads, Google (acting as an independent controller) and its ad partners may collect and process:

Depending on your choices (see Sections 04 and 05), ads are either personalized (tailored using the data above, including across apps) or non-personalized (based only on coarse context, not your identifier). This data is handled under Google’s Privacy Policy; for how Google uses data from apps that use its services, see this page. You can review Google’s ad partners here.

Want zero ads? You can buy “Remove Ads” in the app (Settings › Remove Ads) — a one-time purchase that permanently disables all advertising. See Section 07.

04App Tracking Transparency (ATT)

On first launch, iOS shows Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt asking whether Retrova may track you.

You can change this at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

05Your consent choices (EU/EEA & UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region that requires it, Retrova presents a Google-certified consent message (via Google’s User Messaging Platform) before showing personalized ads, as required by the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive. You can grant or decline consent for advertising and related data use, and you can change your choice later from the consent options if available, or by adjusting the iOS tracking setting above. Where consent is declined or not required, you receive non-personalized ads.

06Anonymous analytics & crash reporting

To understand how Retrova is used and to fix bugs, the app uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, which collect anonymous, aggregated information such as:

This diagnostic data is not linked to your identity (Retrova has no accounts), contains no photos or edits, and is not sold. It is handled under Firebase’s Privacy and Security terms.

07In-app purchases

Retrova offers a one-time “Remove Ads” purchase that permanently disables all advertising. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details, card number, or Apple Account credentials — Apple handles the transaction and only confirms to the app whether the purchase is active. Purchases can be restored on your devices that use the same Apple Account.

08Information we collect — at a glance

We do not collect your name, email, precise GPS location, contacts, or your photos. Some of the data above is used to track you for advertising only when you allow it (Section 04).

09Photo Library permission

iOS asks your permission before Retrova can access your photos. This permission is used solely to let you import images to edit and to save your results. You can review or revoke it any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos › Retrova.

10Third-party services

Retrova relies on the following third parties, each governed by its own privacy policy:

11Children’s privacy

Retrova is a general-audience app that displays third-party ads and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will address it.

12Data retention & security

Your photos stay on your device and are never transmitted to us. Advertising, analytics, and crash data are retained by Google for limited periods per Google’s standard retention settings. We access only aggregated reports and apply reasonable safeguards to the limited data we can access.

13Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data and to opt out of certain processing or “sale/sharing” of data for targeted advertising. You can exercise key choices directly: decline the tracking prompt (Section 04), decline advertising consent (Section 05), or purchase “Remove Ads.” Declining personalized ads serves as an opt-out of cross-app advertising. For other requests, contact us below; note that because we don’t hold account-identifying data, we may be unable to locate data tied to a specific individual.

14Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
